Word of the day.... WHY?
Why, you ask why. why is used as an interrogative or question.ie.
example:
[Sp]Por que compraste una revista? meaning [Eng]Why did you buy a magazine?
Also, Porque can be use in affirmative form. i.e
[Sp]Compro zapatos porque me gustan mucho. [Eng]I buy shoes because I like them a lot.
[Sp]Llego temprano porque el dia empieza temprano. [Eng]I come early because the day starts early.
Basically, Why {
Por qué } can be used when asking someone why?
Why did you get this?, why did you show up late?, why do you like such a style? etc.
Also,
Porque can be used in an affirmative way, i.e, such as in, I buy chocolate
because I like it.
Ex.
I am late because I woke up late. -----
Estoy tarde porque me levante tardeI'm packing because I'm traveling ----
Estoy empacando porque me voy de viaje.Basically, Why -{
Por qué } can be used as in why and also as because.

Porque is a very common word in Spanish, probably at some point in time we all had heard it. Here are three different uses of it, they vary on the spelling and meaning but they sound alike.
interrogative and declarative use, like in
(1)Por qué no has contestado?.
Why haven't you answered?
(2)Por qué no vas de vacaciones?
Why don't you go on vacation?
(3)Me gustaria saber por qué llegaste tarde
I would like to know why did you arrive late?
(4)El queria saber por qué no lo invitaste.
He wanted to know why you didn't invite him.
it's used to respond to a question,i.e.
Question -use
Por qué (two words)

Why haven't you answered?
Answer -use Porque (one word)[Sp]Porque no se la respuesta.
[Eng] Because I don't know the answer.

Porque is also used as a noun, porque means the reason, the cause, the motive.
[Sp] Dime el porque de tu respuesta
[Eng]Tell me the reason for your answer.
[Sp]Nunca supe el porque del despido de tu amiga.
[Eng] I never knew the reason of the firing of your friend.
